This role plays a key part in developing and managing a diverse resource collection and supporting students and staff to engage with information, technology, and literature in ways that enrich learning and reflect the College’s mission, vision, and values.
About the role
The Library Technician will:
- In collaboration with the Library Services Leader, select and manage collection resources (fiction, non-fiction, digital, electronic, and subscriptions).
- Liaise with learning areas to ensure access to quality curriculum resources.
- Oversee circulation and cataloguing processes including loans, reservations, overdues, reporting, and stocktaking.
- Assist with the management of library software, online subscriptions, and digital platforms.
- Encourage student participation in reading and library activities, including clubs, events, and homework support.
- Provide support and assistance to staff and students with information requests, electronic resources, and library technologies.
- Manage budgets, invoices, and liaise with the Finance Office as required.
- Supervise or lead student activities before/after school and during breaks.
- Contribute to the promotion of a safe, welcoming, and student-centred library environment.
- Carry out other duties as directed in line with operational needs and the employee’s skills.
This is a part-time (0.6 FTE), ongoing position primarily based at St Catherine Campus, with potential duties at other campuses as required.
Skills and experience
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Relevant qualifications and/or experience in library support roles, ideally in education.
- Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
- Strong ICT, organisational, planning, and documentation skills.
- High-level interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Flexibility, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality and Catholic values.
- Optimism, generosity of spirit, and enthusiasm for student learning and school community engagement.
